Y
E. Cummings motioned to approve the application packet and advertisement as presented, with the
following modifications: eliminating the extension number; capitalizing the Ohio Peace Officers
Training Council Certification; and changing the $20.00 fee to a $30.00 fee. The motion was
seconded by S. Benjamin and unanimously approved.
C) The commission should decide how many applicants are to be tested for the first agility. At the
last examination, the top 50 candidates were tested for the first agility.
The Chief preferred that the commission test 50 candidates. The testing company will be St. John
and West Shore. The Secretary questioned if the commission would like to use the high school for
the purpose of the agility test.
E. Cummings made a motion that the top 50 candidates shall be tested for the first agility and the
testing site shall be the high school. The motion was seconded by L. Zolar and unanimously
approved.
In response to the secretaries question, Mr. Cummings advised there is no need to send a letter to
those people requesting notification, as a copy of the advertisement is sufficient.
Chief Osterhouse wondered what the status is on updates to the form sent out to candidates
asking if they still wish to remain on the eligibility list. He elaborated this form is used for
candidates that may be on in another department and are no longer interested in employment
within the city. The secretary advised this was under review by the law department. Chairman
Cummings directed the secretary to send a memo to the law department regarding the status of his
review on this format.
Commissioner Benjamin agreed to be the tester. The monitors will be Commissioner Cummings,
Commissioner Zolar, Sue Williams, Sandy Purper, and Tracy Ice. The secretary noted one
monitor is needed for every thirty candidates. The police chief agreed to have an officer(s) present
as needed to thumb print the candidates.
The secretary asked if the commission would have a problem with the data processing department
developing a program on the computer that would automatically add up any extra credit to the raw
scores for each candidate. The commission did not have a problem with this as it would be more
efficient.
X. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
E. Cummings, Chairman
9, nnm co 0
A. rnish, Assistant Clerk of Commissions
