i' <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />CIVIL, SERVICE COMMISSION <br />MINUTES — FEBRUARY 2G, 2001 <br />7:00 PM <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman, Thomay called the meeting to order at 7:15PM. <br />PRESENT: Chairman, J. Thomay, Board member, L. Zolar, Asst. Civil Service Secretary, S. <br />Solomon. <br />ABSENT: Board member P. Farrell. <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: The minutes of January 15, 2001 Civil Service meeting have been <br />submitted for approval. <br />J. Thomay motioned to approve the January 15, 2001 minutes as submitted. The motion was <br />seconded by L. Zolar and unanimously approved. <br />III. REPORTS: <br />A) There has been 12 correspondences received by the Civil Service Commission. <br />J. Thomay motioned to approve the correspondences as submitted. The motion was seconded <br />by L. Zolar and unanimously approved. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />A) The commissioners need to address Rule III of the Civil Service Handbook. <br />Mr. Thomay announced that as all three board members were not present the board would table <br />the review of the Civil Service Handbook. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />A) The commission needs to review and motion to approve the clerks report for the State Personnel <br />Board of Review. <br />L. Zolar motioned to approve the clerks report for the State Personnel Board of Review. The <br />motion was seconded by J. Thomay and unanimously approved. <br />B) The commission needs to review the information that has led up to a fire candidates <br />disqualification and removal from the firefighter eligible list. <br />Mr. Thomay indicated that the candidate obviously didn't meet the eye standards in the Civil <br />Service Handbook. Under strict interpretation of our law and the Law Department's opinion is <br />that this candidate is disqualified. <br />
