CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />SPECIAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />MINUTES - SEPTEMBER 259 2003 <br />COUNCIL'S CAUCUS ROOM <br />8:30 A.M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Thomay called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. <br />PRESENT: Chairman J. Thomay and Board member R. Giesser <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mayor N. Musial, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, and Civil Service <br />Secretary D. Rote. <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated August 18, 2003 have been submitted for approval. <br />J. Thomay motion to approve the August 18, 2003 Civil Service minutes as written. R. <br />Giesser seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />III. CORRESPONDENCE: <br />There were (3 1) pieces of correspondence received and (3 9) pieces of correspondence sent out. <br />Ms. Giesser questioned who the Public Agency Service Agreement Company was and what the <br />agreement was for. Mrs. Rote indicated that it was an entry level testing company North Olmsted <br />has used in the past and they require an agreement as to who will sign contracts and who is <br />authorized to view testing documents for North Olmsted. The contract is required if North Olmsted <br />would like to deal with their company. Mr. Thomay inquired if there was any information <br />regarding the Building inspector that was to be hired. Mayor Musial indicated they felt there <br />would be an appointment made early October 2003. <br />John Thomay motion to approve correspondences as submitted. R. Giesser seconded the <br />motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Commissioners need to motion on final list of candidates that will take Lieutenants exam: <br />Mr. Thomay reviewed that 30 intent letters were sent out and out of the 30 the commission <br />received 22 responses. Mrs. Rote voiced that out of the 30 eligible 19 have chosen to take the test, <br />3 chose not to participate and there was 7 eligible candidates who did not respond. Mr. O'Malley <br />suggested that the commission acknowledge the 19 candidates, who have chosen to take the test, as <br />the commission is confirming the receipt of their wish to take the test. <br />John Thomay motion to confirm the 19 people listed on the memorandum dated September <br />24, 2003 and that Ramsey be informed that there will be 19 candidates participating in the <br />Fire Lieutenants test. R. Giesser seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />1 <br />
