` they met and then the ones, which take more work, could be resolved at the end. Chairman Thomay directed
V the secretary to contact the Personnel Director to get dates that she would be available to block off to assist
the Civil Service Commission in meeting with each of the Directors to review the classifications. The
Commissioners will require a job description or job requirement for each position within the City. They
would like the meeting to take place within the next 30 -days. Once her dates are received, the
Commissioners will adjust their schedules to start the process in motion. Each of the Commissioners voiced
that they would be willing to start at 8:30 a.m. and block off an entire day.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
Commissioners need to motion on the Lieutenants written test result list and authorize the secretary to
mail them out:
Mr. Thomay indicated that Ramsey & Associates graded the written tests with the re -keyed answer key.
Thirty Firefighters were invited, nineteen Firefighters applied, and fifteen took the written test. Out of the
fifteen Firefighters whom took the written test, ten passed the written test and five failed to score 70% or
better. Mr. O'Malley reviewed that the candidates would now start their time for reviewing the revised
answer key and their answer sheets. He questioned if ten candidates passing the test was expected. Mrs.
Rote reviewed that the last Fire Lieutenant exam had thirty invites, fifteen took the test, and only three
passed the test. Therefore, the Firefighters performance in this test turned out much better than expected.
They did an excellent job, as there were more questions this time as well. She further suggested that the
testing company would now only need one day to conduct the oral assessments.
J. Thomay motions to have the secretary make public the results of the Fire Lieutenants written
examination and send each participant their results. The secretary will also give notice of the pre-test
orientation meeting for the oral assessment in the result letters. R. Giesser seconded the motion, which
was unanimously approved.
Mr. O'Malley advised the Commissioners that they would need to have the certified list no later than
November 20. 2003. The testing company is going to have to work with the commission so they can certify
the list at their November 17, 2003 meeting.
VI.
