f. Applicants who are eligible to take an Entry -Level examination shall register and be <br />prepared to verify their identity with a driver's license, a comparable document and/or <br />fingerprinting process in accordance with the application packet. <br />Section 2: Nature of Examination: <br />Entrance examination shall be practical in character and shall relate directly to those <br />matters which will fairly test the relative capacity of the person examined to discharge the <br />particular duties of the position for which appointment is sought and shall when <br />appropriate, include tests of manual skill. The Commission shall prescribe the subjects of <br />each examination and the relative weights to be attached thereto; provided, however, that <br />any such determinations shall be adopted by the Commission prior to the date of such <br />examination. <br />Section 3: Vision Standards: <br />A. The following vision standards apply to all Entry -Level Police Officer and Firefighter/ <br />Paramedic applicants. <br />1. Fireman: Deficient functional color perception related to the job description. <br />2. Police: Deficiency in color perception of such a nature as to prompt and accurate <br />identification of the colors of standard traffic lights and normal objects, the final <br />standard shall be made by the Board of Consultants. <br />B. Visual Requirements for all Entry -Level Police Officer and Firefighter/Paramedic <br />applicants are as follows: <br />Visual Acuity - Corrected (with spectacles or contact lenses). Standard - 20/20 <br />binocular (both eyes open). Screening referral - less than 20/20 binocular or 20/40 or <br />worse with either eye alone must be referred for the confirmation that candidate meets <br />binocular vision standards. <br />2. Visual Acuity - Uncorrected (no spectacles or contact lenses). <br />Standard - 20/40 binocular. <br />Screening failure - less than 20/40 binocular. <br />Screening referral 20/200 or worse with either eye alone must be referred for <br />confirmation that candidate meets binocular vision standard. <br />*See Contact Lens Waiver and/or Refraction Modification Waiver <br />Hyperemia <br />Standard - less than 2.00 D. (spherical equivalent) of hyperopia in either eye. <br />Screening referral - binocular visual acuity (uncorrected) which does not decrease by <br />at least one full acuity line with +1.50D lenses. <br />05-24-2004 Update <br />
