T <br />I. <br />II. <br />c� <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED NO <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />MAYOR'S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />MINUTES - SEPTEMBER 18, 2006 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm <br />PRESENT: M. Ubaldi, W. Hohmann, and K. Zolar <br />ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Civil Service Secretary Donna Eccleston <br />DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated August 11, 2006, August 21, 2006 and September 12, 2006 have <br />been submitted for approval. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the minutes of August 11, 2006, August 21, 2006 and <br />September 12, 2006 as submitted. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously <br />approved. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 14 items of correspondence received and 11 items of correspondence sent out by the <br />Civil Service Commission. <br />A correspondence to the Civil Service Commission was sent from the Safety Director, Tom <br />Terbrack, regarding the Police Captain vacancy. A general discussion followed concerning a <br />possible abolishment of the two (2) Captains position; sixty (60) day timeline to conduct an <br />examination for a vacancy; testing company's timeline; secure a test date; approve the agreement; <br />issue notice of the testing date with an invitation to test with or without the waiver. Another item of <br />correspondence that does not appear in writing is the Safety Director notified the Law Department <br />that the Police Department is anticipating a resignation in the rank of patrol and suggested a notice <br />of the vacancy, which will occur this week, to the Civil Service Commission and certify five (5) <br />names to the appointing authority. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to certify the following five (5) names on the Police Entry -Level <br />Eligible List and forward a copy of Steven Yanke's application to the appointing authority <br />subject to the actual vacancy date: Jack Cook Jr., Jason Ziemnik, Scott Harner, Mark <br />Kassnel, and Steven Yanke. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously approved. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Review Statements of Qualifications and Scores for Firefighters Entry -Level <br />The Commission reviewed the RFQ's for Firefighter Entry -Level. A general discussion followed <br />concerning the Entry -Level Firefighters Eligible expired list; no new vacancies; wait until the Police <br />Department completes their testing and then proceeding with the Entry -Level Firefighters testing; <br />RFQ's for Entry -Level Police; interview testing companies for both for Police and Fire; RFQ's for <br />the Assistant Fire Chief. <br />
