Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to implement the changes to the Rules and Regulations on
November 5, 2007. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously approved.
Discuss Testing for Emergency Central Dispatch
Ramsey & Associates will be the testing company for the Emergency Central Dispatcher
Examination. The examination will consist of a written multiple choice test and an audio test which
should be completed in about two (2) hours; the examination will not include a typing test. The
duties of a Dispatcher are: sit at the phones and takes the incoming calls; use a lot of discretion of
how to respond and then make the call to the appropriate Police or Fire Department. This is a very
important position and is very fast pace at times; the individual has to be a cool and collected person
who can make decisions quickly and obtain a lot of information from the caller. The CAD system
monitors the phone calls and there are not a lot of key strokes when inputting the information
received.
The passing score has been set for 70% and the testing company will determine the value of the two
(2) components of the test. The first fifty (50) applicants that return completed applications will be
allowed to take the test. The date of the examination will be Saturday, February 16, 2008. Ms.
Thomas indicated she will check further but believes the Dispatcher position is on the job training;
an eight (8) hour shift, five (5) days a week. The position starts as part-time and then a test will be
given for the full time position. The ad should be in the Plain Dealer on January 6th; the application
deadline will be January 21, 2008.
Mr. Ubaldi made a motion for an Entry -Level Examination for the position of Emergency
Central Dispatcher according to the established details. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion
and unanimously approved.
Discuss Building Inspector Eligible List per Correspondence
A general discussion commenced regarding the Building Department vacancy; removal of two (2)
names from the eligible list. A hearing can be set for the two (2) certified names that the Building
Commissioner deems unqualified.
Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to notify Joseph Gyorky and David Frolo that a hearing for the
removal of their names from the Building Inspector Eligible List pursuant to Rule VII,
Section 91 be held on January 28, 2008. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously
approved. Mr. Ubaldi noted that the Commissioners received a memo from Commissioner
Conway with his explanation.
Discuss Firefighters Eligible List per Correspondence
There have been several unsuccessful attempts to contact Andrew Sasak to begin the evaluation
process; therefore, the Commission received a request from the appointing authority to have his
name removed from the eligible list and certify another name.
Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to notify Andrew Sasak that a hearing for his removal from the
entry-level list pursuant from Rule VII, Section 9 c will be held on January 28, 2008.
