promotional examination may be held more than sixty (60) days after the vacancy of a <br />promoted rank. <br />Amended 4/21/08 <br />Section 4: Nature of Promotional Examinations <br />Promotional examinations, including those for the Police Department or Fire Department, <br />may consist of a written examination, an oral assessment or a combination of the two. <br />Promotional examinations shall be practical in character and shall relate directly to those <br />matters which will fairly test the relative capacity of the person examined to discharge the <br />particular duties of the position for which promotional appointment is sought. The <br />Commission shall prescribe the subjects of each examination and the relative weights to be <br />attached thereto; provided, however, that any such determinations shall be adopted by the <br />Commission prior to the date of such examination. <br />Amended 9/13/04 <br />Section 5: Identity Verification <br />All candidates who are eligible to take a promotional examination shall register and be <br />prepared to verify their identity with a driver's license or a comparable document. <br />Section 6: Promotional Examination Date <br />Promotional examinations, unless postponed, shall be held upon dates fixed by the <br />Commission. Examinations may be postponed by order of the Commission, which shall <br />designate the reason. <br />Section 7: Efficiency and Seniority Credit — Promotional Examinations <br />a. Applicants receiving a passing score in competitive promotional examinations within the <br />fire department or police department shall receive additional credit to their scores for <br />efficiency and seniority. <br />b. Efficiency and seniority credit shall be added to an applicant's final score, subsequent to <br />the examination. <br />c. Seniority and efficiency evaluation point credits shall be awarded when the efficiency <br />evaluation results are received from the respective department for which the promotional <br />examination is being held. <br />Seniority credit, as permitted herein, will be awarded in the following manner: <br />1 point for each of the first four years; 0.6 (6/10) point for each additional year up to and <br />including the fourteenth year for a maximum total of 10 points. <br />1 yr. = 1 pt. <br />2 yrs. = 2 pts. <br />3 yrs. = 3 pts. <br />4 yrs. = 4 pts. <br />5 yrs. = 4.6 pts <br />6 yrs. = <br />5.2 pts <br />7 yrs. = <br />5.8 pts. <br />8 yrs. = <br />6.4 pts. <br />9 yrs. = <br />7.0 pts. <br />10 yrs. <br />= 7.6 pts. <br />0 <br />11 yrs. = <br />8.2 pts. <br />12 yrs. = <br />8.8 pts. <br />13 yrs. = <br />9.4 pts <br />14 yrs. = <br />10 pts. <br />
