I. <br />II <br />IV. <br />� v � <br />�o <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br />MINUTES - OCTOBER 20, 2008 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br />PRESENT: M. Ubaldi and B. Hohmann <br />ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director C. Farver, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, <br />Community Life Services Director J. Dailey, Recreation Commissioner T. DiSalvo, Civil Service <br />Secretary D. Eccleston <br />DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated September 15, 2008 have been submitted for approval. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted. Mr. Hohmann seconded the <br />motion and unanimously approved. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 10 items of correspondence received and 16 items of correspondence sent out by the <br />Civil Service Commission. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />The Commission reviewed artifacts from past tests and a general discussion conunenced regarding <br />the Service Foreman examination; pass/fail letters; oral posting; oral assessment. A suggestion was <br />made that the pass/fail letters should be sent to each candidate for the record; the oral posting will <br />not be needed since the written examination and the oral assessment are both on the same day; the <br />testing company can choose at random which candidate will take the oral assessment first. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Discuss the Abolishment of the Maintenance Supervisor Position at the North Olmsted <br />Recreation Center <br />The Director of Community Life Services, John Dailey, indicated that the administration is <br />currently looking to accomplish the abolislunent of the Maintenance Foreman position at the <br />Recreation Center. Currently the Maintenance Foreman, Tom Stein, has been employed with the <br />City of North Olmsted for 33 years and is not retiring at this time. Mr. Stein was verbally informed <br />of the abolislunent of his position on Monday, October 20, 2008. <br />Currently the position supervises four (4) full time employees and three (3) part-time employees; <br />handles scheduling, staffing, assigning projects and implement step-by-step instructions; projects <br />conducted at the park mainly includes regular maintenance and the Service Department helps with <br />
