CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SPECIAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br />MINUTES -- OCTOBER 25, 2010 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />PRESENT: M. Ubaldi, K. Zolar and J. Barrett <br />ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director C. Farver, Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, S. <br />Barrett, and Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated March 30, 2010, May 17, 2010, and June 7, 2010 have been <br />submitted for approval. <br />The Chairman and then Commissioner Diane Dargaj were present at the March meeting. Ms. Zolar <br />indicated her approval of the March's minutes. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the minutes from March, May and June meetings as <br />submitted. Ms. Zolar seconded the motion. Roll Call: Ms. Zolar, yes; Mr. Barrett, <br />abstained; Mr. Ubaldi, yes. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Review Application Packets for the Entry -Level Patrol Officer Examination Extra Credit <br />One (1) packet was overlooked and included a personal check. A general discussion commenced <br />regarding this application and disqualification. The secretary contacted the applicant, Mr. Orack, <br />before the examination and explained the situation regarding his disqualification. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion that Nicholas Orack be disqualified due to a personal check and <br />will be unable to participate in the Entry -Level Patrol Officer examination. Mr. Barrett <br />seconded and unanimously approved. <br />A general discussion followed regarding extra credit for the rest of the applicants. There was an <br />applicant that had a diploma from Lithuania and the Commission inquired about the validity of the <br />certification and any national recognition. This issue will be put on hold until further investigation. <br />
