Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 6:57 PM <br />PRESENT: M. Ubaldi, K. Zolar and J. Barrett <br />ALSO PRESENT: Law Director M. Gareau, Jr., Councilman P, Barker, Human Resources <br />Director C. Narver, Police Lieutenant M. Kilbane, Police Lieutenant R. Flynn, Police Lieutenant R, <br />Cox, Police Captain J. Gallagher, S. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Request of Waiver <br />It is the duty and obligation of the Commission to schedule the promotional examination for the <br />position of Police Chief and inquire to the candidates if they would waive their rights for a 30 day <br />advance notice of the examination. The reasoning is two -fold: first the Administration did send <br />notice of vacancy; and the importance to meet Chief Wozniak's expectation of mentoring, guiding, <br />and communicating with his successor. <br />A general discussion commenced regarding testing dates, waive of right for the 30 days advance <br />notice, testing materials, oral assessment, no written test, flexibility on what is set forth on the <br />notice. <br />According to the Rules and Regulations, the Commission has the right to proceed providing <br />the candidates would be in agreement to waive the posting of 30 days and that the <br />Commission will be holding an Oral Assessment for the Promotional Police Chief <br />Examination and will be reflected on the notice: Mr. Ubaldi so moved. Mr. Barrett seconded <br />the motion and unanimously approved. <br />It is the candidates' rights to have 30 days advance notice. The Chairman can ask if the candidates <br />wish to simply vote by voice to indicate their wiliness to waive the 30 days and can have a formal <br />question read; the secretary can then read a roll call of the names. The question is "Do you hereby <br />waive any and all right to 30 days' advance notice, publication and posting of the promotional <br />
