CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> SPECIAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br /> CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br /> MINUTES -- JANUARY 7, 2013 <br /> 7:00 P.M. <br /> I. ROLL CALL: Chairman J. Barrett called the meeting to order at 7:24 p.m, <br /> PRESENT: J. Barrett, M. Ubaldi and M. Hayes <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, S. Barrett and Civil Service Secretary D. <br /> Eccleston <br /> H. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br /> III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Review Entry-Level Patrol Officer Applications <br /> The Secretary has reviewed each application thoroughly and a general discussion commenced <br /> regarding reviewing only the applications in question. <br /> Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Ubaldi, that the clerk thoroughly <br /> reviewed each application and based upon that review, the Commission restrict itself to <br /> reviewing applications that are in question. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> The Commission received a request from an Entry-Level Patrol Officer applicant. The Assistant <br /> Law Director recommends to the Commission that the matter be handled administratively by the <br /> Chairman with support of legal advice and Human Resources consultation. <br /> Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Hayes, based upon the <br /> recommendation from the Assistant Law Director that the Chairman have the administrative <br /> ability to make a decision with input from the Law and Human Resources Department. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> The Commission reviewed each application in question. General discussion commenced regarding <br /> OPOTA Certification, Military Extra Credit, rejection of applicants with personal checks, <br /> affirmative answers to question 49 (any violations of law other than minor traffic offenses). An <br /> applicant has indicated that he does not have a valid driver's license. At the point of check in, the <br /> applicant must show a Driver's License or another form of government ID in order to sit for the test. <br /> This applicant would be allowed to take the test providing he has some other form of government <br /> ID. <br />
