The Safety Director's biggest concern is having more officers on the street and October would be
ideal for the Police Sergeants test and then the vacancy of Patrol Officer would be filled this year.
He would Iike to have the Police Department with a total of 45 employees and is seeking a Cops
Grant.
Commissioner Hayes inquired about the budget and Human Resources Director Cheryl Farver
indicated that the Administration can request the additional funds with the Finance Director if
needed.
The Commission has adequate time in which to make the plans to conduct the exam and can solicit
information from Poly-Tech. There are certain decision points to be made, how it would be
weighted, etc. The Secretary pulled some examples of how the test would be scheduled. This
would be a 2 month process and the Commission will need to have everything in place at the
August meeting.
A general discussion commenced regarding inviting the testing company, Human Resources
Director, Safety Director, and Police Chief to the next meeting and review and discuss their
recommendations for the Police Sergeant exam.
Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Hayes, based upon the hiring of two (2)
new Patrol Officers, the Civil Service Commission accepts and certifies the amended Eligible
List.
Motion passed unanimously.
VY. ADJOURNMENT:
Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Hayes, that the meeting be adjourned.
Motioned passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
f.
r
Jer ne Barrett, Civil Service Chairman Date Donna Eccleston, Civil Service Secretary
