The Safety Director's biggest concern is having more officers on the street and October would be <br /> ideal for the Police Sergeants test and then the vacancy of Patrol Officer would be filled this year. <br /> He would Iike to have the Police Department with a total of 45 employees and is seeking a Cops <br /> Grant. <br /> Commissioner Hayes inquired about the budget and Human Resources Director Cheryl Farver <br /> indicated that the Administration can request the additional funds with the Finance Director if <br /> needed. <br /> The Commission has adequate time in which to make the plans to conduct the exam and can solicit <br /> information from Poly-Tech. There are certain decision points to be made, how it would be <br /> weighted, etc. The Secretary pulled some examples of how the test would be scheduled. This <br /> would be a 2 month process and the Commission will need to have everything in place at the <br /> August meeting. <br /> A general discussion commenced regarding inviting the testing company, Human Resources <br /> Director, Safety Director, and Police Chief to the next meeting and review and discuss their <br /> recommendations for the Police Sergeant exam. <br /> Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Hayes,based upon the hiring of two (2) <br /> new Patrol Officers, the Civil Service Commission accepts and certifies the amended Eligible <br /> List. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> VY.
