CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br /> CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br /> MINUTES — OCTOBER 21, 2013 <br /> 7:00 P.M. <br /> I. ROLL CALL: Chairman J. Barrett called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. <br /> PRESENT: J. Barrett, M. Ubaldi and M. Hayes <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director C. Farver, Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, S. <br /> Barrett, and Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br /> II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br /> Chairman Barrett moved, seconded by Commissioner Ubaldi, that the minutes of the <br /> September 16,2013 meeting be approved as received. <br /> Motioned passed unanimously. <br /> III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> There were 13 items of correspondence received and 3 items of correspondence sent out by the <br /> Civil Service Commission. <br /> IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br /> IPMA has shipped the written test for the Promotional Police Sergeant examination held on <br /> Saturday, November 2, 2013. Fifteen (15) Patrol Officers accepted the invitation to sit for the test. <br /> Finalize Details of Promotional Fire Lieutenant Examination <br /> The Commission discussed the passing score for the written test of the Promotional Fire <br /> Lieutenant's examination and all are in agreement to have 70% as the passing score. As discussed <br /> last month, the weight of the examination will be 60% written and 40% oral. <br /> Chairman Barrett read the proposed calendar dates: 1116/13 "Letters of Intent"; 11/12/13 "Written <br /> Posting'; 11/22/13 "Deadline to Submit Letters of Intent"; 1/11/14 "Written Test at St. Clarence"; <br /> 1/16/14 "Results/pass/fail letters"; 1117/14 "Oral Posting"; 1/25114 "Oral Assessment at Fire Station <br /> L" The regular Civil Service meeting scheduled for January 27, 2014 will be cancelled and a <br /> special meeting would be scheduled for February 3, 2014 to certify the results. <br /> Chairman Barrett inquired about the reference materials. Dr. Doverspike has been in touch with <br /> Fire Chief Schepp regarding the reference materials and a concrete list will be developed shortly. <br /> Poly-Tech's proposal is $6,500 for the test and the same format for the Police Sergeant's <br /> examination will be used. <br />
