CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br />MINUTES -- MAY 189 2015 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />L ROLL CALL: Chairman J. Barrett called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. <br />PRESENT: J. Barrett, M. Hayes and K. Rahm <br />ALSO PRESENT: Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, Fire Lieutenant B. Shlapack, Fire <br />Lieutenant M. Peters, S. Barrett, and Civil Service Secretary S. Berkley <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />Motion by Chairman Barrett, seconded by Commissioner Hayes, that the minutes of the April 20, <br />2015 meeting be approved as received. <br />Motioned passed unanimously. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 23 items of correspondence received and 72 items of correspondence sent out by the <br />Civil Service Commission. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Review Application Packets for Entry -Level Clerical Examination <br />Commission reviewed the packets of four (4) applicants. The outcome of review was to waive the <br />$25.00 fee for one (1) applicant and award educational extra credit to the remaining three (3) <br />applicants. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Promotional Fire Captain Test <br />Safety Director D. Glauner requested a Promotional Fire Captain's examination for the middle of <br />July, 2015 because of one (1) vacancy. General discussion commenced concerning number of <br />eligible candidates, waive time in grade allowing all Lieutenants to take the exam, time in grade and <br />amending the calendar. <br />Motion by Chairman Barrett, seconded by Commissioner Rahm, to accept the Promotional Fire <br />Captains Examination calendar: June 4th Letters of Intent will be distributed, June 11`' submittal <br />deadline, June 15th applications will be reviewed, July 18th will be the Captain's Test, July 20th the <br />list will be certified. Roll call: Chairman Barrett: yes; Commissioner Rahm: yes; Commissioner <br />Hayes: no. <br />Motion passed. <br />
