CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM MINUTES - JANUARY 28, 2019 7:00 P.M. L ROLL CALL: Chairman W. Brake called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. PRESENT: W. Brake, M. Kelly and A. Campbell ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director M. Gallo, Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, Safety Director D. Glauner, Fire Lieutenant D. Boatman and Civil Service Secretary S. Freeland II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: Motion by Commissioner Kelly, seconded by Commissioner Brake, that the minutes of the November 19, 2018 meeting be approved as received. Motion passed unanimously. III. COMMUNICATIONS: There were 3 items of correspondence received and 7 items of correspondence sent out by the Civil Service Commission. IV. NEW BUSINESS: Promotional Fire Captain and Promotional Fire Lieutenant Exams General discussion commenced regarding scoring and weight for the written and individual assessment of the Promotional Fire Captain and Promotional Fire Lieutenants exams. The passing score for both will be seventy percent (70%) for the written and the weight being forty percent (40%) for the written and sixty percent (60%) for the individual assessments. A list of reference materials for the written exam was presented and briefly reviewed by the Commission. A calendar was presented to the Commission with tentative dates of events including and leading up to the written exam and individual assessments for both Fire Captain and Fire Lieutenant. Motion by Commissioner Brake, seconded by Commissioner Campbell, to establish the passing score for the Promotional Fire Captains and Promotional Fire Lieutenants Exam at seventy percent (70%) for the written; the weight of the written forty percent (40%) and the weight of the individual assessment sixty percent (60%). Motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Campbell, seconded by Commissioner Kelly, to accept the reference material for the Promotional Fire Captain and Promotional lire Lieutenant Exams. Motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Brake, seconded by Commissioner Campbell, to accept the Promotional Fire Captain and Promotional Fire Lieutenant Examination calendars. Motion passed unanimously.
