LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES FOR MEETING OF JUNE 8, 2020 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Mr. Neville called the meeting to order at 7:08 pm via online public meeting. <br />Present: Elizabeth Cardarelli, Tom Dubowski, James Gearhart, Duane Limpert, Jim Morse, <br />David Neville, Gretchen Schuler, Paul Schumann <br />Absent: Sarah Egan -Reeves <br />Staff. Planning and Community Development Director Kim Lieber, Assistant Director of Law <br />Bryan O'Malley <br />Mr. Dubowski moved, seconded by Ms. Cardarelli, to excuse the absence of Ms. Egan - <br />Reeves, motion passed 8-0. <br />REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Ms. Schuler moved, seconded by Mr. Dubowski, to approve the Landmarks Commission <br />meeting minutes of May 11, 2020, motion passed 8-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />20-16412; Anthony Sapienza; 25760 Butternut Ridge Road <br />Representative: Anthony Sapienza, owner <br />Mr. Sapienza would like to install a two rail split rail fence partially along the front and sides of <br />his property. The home is a brick ranch and is the second house from the cemetery. Mr. Neville <br />did not think the fence style was inappropriate or that it would affect visibility. Ms. Cardarelli <br />asked if there is an existing fence. Mr. Sapienza said he does not have a fence currently but the <br />neighbor across the street, a Cape Cod house and the cemetery have similar fencing. The fencing <br />will be about three feet from the sidewalk since he has trees in the yard. <br />Mr. Limpert moved, seconded by Mr. Schumann, to grant a Certificate of Appropriateness <br />for a split rail fence for 20-16412; Anthony Sapienza at 25760 Butternut Ridge Road, which <br />was approved 8-0. <br />20-16508; North Olmsted Universalist Church; 5050 Porter Road <br />Representatives: Dan Beeman, Wagner Sign Company; Emily Williams, Church Board <br />President; Brian Warren, Church Board Vice President; James Kearney, Church Finance <br />Director <br />Ms. Lieber said the Commission must review the sign for appropriateness since the building is a <br />city landmark. If approved, the sign will go to BZBA as variances would be required to have <br />digital signage and because it meets the definition of a pole sign. Mr. Beeman said the sign will <br />replace an existing monument sign with manual changeable type. The new sign has an aluminum <br />
