BUILDING & ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES FOR JULY 7, 2021 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Vice Chairman Papotto called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm via online public meeting. <br />Present: Bob Papotto, Ralph Mackey, Dan Rahm <br />Absent: Eric Allain, Suzie Patton <br />Staff. Planning Director Kim Lieber, Building Coordinator Katie Seeley, Administrative <br />Assistant Nicole Rambo -Ackerman <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Mackey moved, seconded by Mr. Rahm, to approve the Building & Zoning Board of <br />Appeals minutes of June 7, 2021, motion passed 3-0. <br />RESIDENTIAL APPEALS AND REQUESTS <br />21-19444; Melanie Bender; 3227 W. 230' Street <br />Representative: Melanie Bender, owner <br />Proposal consists of a new patio cover. Property is zone C -One Family Residence. <br />1. A 9 ft. variance for rear yard setback of a roofed patio; code requires 50 ft., applicant shows <br />approximately 41 ft., Section 1135.02(C)(4)(a). Note: See also 1135.06(D). <br />The applicant is proposing to install a new patio cover. Covered patios require the same setback <br />as the dwelling, which is 50 feet. The cover will project into the required rear yard by nine feet <br />resulting in the requested setback variance. Ms. Bender added that the aluminum awning was <br />there when she bought the home 34 years ago and needs to be replaced. She would like to build <br />the new structure over the existing patio. Ms. Lieber pointed out that the city has no record of a <br />past variance being granted for the existing patio roof. Mr. Papotto had no objections since the <br />proposed cover will be the same as the current structure. <br />Mr. Rahm moved, seconded by Mr. Mackey, to approve the following variance for 21- <br />19444; Melanie Bender; 3227 W. 230th Street: <br />1.
