Mr. Mackey made a motion to approve 209-2024; Qdoba; 26440 Lorain Road; seconded by Mr. <br />Papotto. <br />Motion passed: 4-0 <br />210-2024; Smoothie King; 26430 Lorain Rd. <br />Representative: Jeff Watkins <br />A variance request was made for a 39.51 -square -foot sign area, exceeding the 14.4 square feet <br />allowed by code. The applicant presented the case, explaining that the sign size seemed large on <br />paper but was necessary for uniformity across the building, which now housed two tenants. The <br />difference in variance size was due to the inclusion of a crown on the Smoothie King sign, which <br />had to be calculated as part of the overall sign area. City staff had no further comments, and it <br />was noted that the sign code's strict application might lead to unreasonable results that hinder the <br />applicant's ability to advertise their business effectively.
