y
I r
Representative: Ethan Kollar
The applicant requested a variance for a detached garage, seeking a 114 -square -foot variance for
its size, as the code permits 750 square feet, and the proposed garage is 864 square feet. The
garage is designed to protect a large van from damage caused by trees on the property. The
applicant explained that due to the van's size, a tandem garage was more practical than a side-by-
side design. There will be no storage above the garage, and it will feature a 12 -foot garage door.
The applicant provided letters of support from neighbors and highlighted the damage to the van,
including a recent incident caused by a fallen tree branch. Board members inquired about the
garage's construction and driveway adjustments, to which the applicant confirmed the existing
garage would be demolished, and the driveway would be slightly reduced in size to
accommodate the new structure.
Mr. Mackey moved to approve 227-2025; Ethan Kollar; 5194 Dewey Rd.; seconded by Mr.
Papotto.
The board discussed a previous variance request by the applicant, who had a freestanding carport
removed due to safety concerns during high winds. The applicant presented a well -considered
plan for a new facility to protect his vehicles, addressing issues such as property history, tree
damage, and vehicle protection. The board noted that the applicant had support from neighbors
and that the current 62 -year-old garage was inadequate. They agreed that a new garage would be
a positive addition to the property and neighborhood, with members expressing their support for
the variance request.
Motion passed: 5-0
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business before the board, the meeting adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
Mike Kovach, Chair Lyn ilson, Administrative Assistant
Approved: q I 11
