The applicant sought approval for a 256-square-foot shed, while
the code permitted 150 square feet, creating a 106-square-foot variance request. The shed was
proposed at 16 by 16 feet with an 11-foot, 9-inch height and included a 4-foot porch.
The applicant explained the shed would provide storage for pool supplies, furniture, and a lawn
tractor, freeing up garage space. He emphasized accessibility for his wife, who uses a
wheelchair, noting that the shed's design and porch would allow her to garden independently and
have shaded space outdoors.
The building department noted that the addition placed the property at the 20%rear yard
coverage limit, given the pool, walkways, and other improvements. No further comments or
questions were raised by staff or board members.
Mr.Mackey motioned to approve 291-2025;Richard Devries; 6170 Gareau Dr.; seconded by
Ms. Galateanu
Motion Passed:4-0
297-2025; Ava Haglund; 3446 Tree Ln.
Case 297-2025 at 3446 Tree Lane involved a request for a variance to allow a storage shed on a
corner lot within the required front building setback along the side street. The applicant proposed
an 8-by-10-foot shed next to the garage, explaining that the lot's unusual layout left no other
1
