The motion was approved 5-0.
NEW BUSINESS
24-PLAN-152; Mary Yvette Hutson-25976 Butternut Ridge Rd
Proposal consists of removal/replacement of 12 windows.
A property owner on Butternut Ridge Road requested approval to replace 12 windows. A
representative from the installation company attended the discussion to present the proposal. The
Commission reviewed the proposed changes and raised concerns about maintaining the historic
character of the windows, particularly the asymmetrical design of the original sashes. Questions
were also raised about the storm windows,as some appeared to be original while others may have
been added later.
The discussion focused on determining whether certain storm windows were original and how best
to preserve the home's historic appearance, especially its front elevation. A section of the
guidelines regarding window replacement was read, emphasizing that any new windows should
match the originals in dimensions and detailing. The primary concern was with the front-facing
windows, which are the most visible from the street. The group debated whether the windows
should be uniform in style, noting that the homeowners were open to either maintaining a
consistent design or allowing some variation, depending on what would best preserve the house's
historic character.
Further discussion centered on the differences in grid patterns between the Breezeway room and
the dining room. It was noted that the Breezeway windows featured standard 50-50 double-hung
1
