The group agreed to participate in the following events during 2024: • Easter Eggstravaganza,to be held at North Olmsted Community Park from 10 a.m.to Noon on Saturday, March 23. • Homecoming 2024—a specific role for the Arts Commission will be determined once all options are explored. Susan Begin suggested some type of community art project being undertaken as a part of Homecoming 2024. Becky Tesar suggested creating an interactive canvas project and/or several community canvasses at the 2024 Homecoming,which could ultimately be turned into murals,similar to a project she was involved with in her role with Sherwin-Williams.. • Halloween at the Park. • The Halloween Home Decorating Contest and Christmas Holiday Home Decorating Contest. Becky Tesar volunteered to manage both of those events on behalf of the Commission. • Holiday Hangout event in conjunction with the North Olmsted Department of Recreation and Public Engagement. • Public Art—The group will work with Director of Economic and Community Development Max Upton and Director of Recreation and Public Engagement Tim Pinchek to explore opportunities for public art, including a possible sculpture or some type of centrally located artwork in conjunction with the movement of the Memorial at North Olmsted Community Park. Frank Boulton said he will schedule meetings with both Upton and Pinchek to discuss further. Frank Boulton also said he has contacted Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, registering as an applicant to determine what sources of grant funding may be available through CAC, although the NOAC does not have a 501(c) 3 status often required by the CAC to obtain grant funding. Frank also shared with the group a list of muralists, including Stamy Paul,the Senior Vice President, Human Resources,for Airgas. Paul is the President and Founder of Graffiti HeArt,which connects organizations with artists for custom designed mural installations. Bryan O'Malley said that he would contact the Parma Law Department to ascertain information about the numerous murals the City of Parma has in place, particularly in the Polish Village area of the City on Ridge Road. Rick Haase suggested that he also contact Ward 2 Parma Councilwoman Debbie Lime who played an integral role in the establishment of the Polish Village area of the community as an additional informational resource. It was discussed that a possible site for a community mural would be inside the field house at the North Olmsted Recreation Center. The idea will be broached with Director Pinchek and further discussed. Frank Boulton said he would like to also meet with North Olmsted High School Art Department Chair Jason Krucek to discuss ways the North Olmsted Performing Arts Center might be better utilized working in concert with the NOAC.
