He has begun the selection process for the groups' next keynote
speaker, and is targeting Nancy Heaton of BayArts. He
suggested a group outing to the Cleveland Museum of Art. Mr.
Boulton recently met with Dan Crandall, Marketing and Business
Development Manager for Great Northern Mall, to share artistic
and creative approaches employed by the mall.
Susan Begin and Becky Tesar gave an update on the recently
discussed community art project. Ms. Tesar reviewed a proposal
including project leads (Susan Begin, Lori Kershner and Becky
Tesar), project goals, budget, collaboration requests, timeline and
considerations.
Becky said in her view, the group needs to determine what the
NOAC's role is within the North Olmsted community, along with
what the group is able/expected to do. "Baby steps are needed,"
she said.
Nahid Parsipour said "We need to do something bigger to
promote arts and culture in the City."
The group discussed the upcoming Cultural Celebration (Friday,
May 24 at North Olmsted High School stadium) and Homecoming
2024.
Mark Mallett suggested that the upcoming concert/fireworks event
on July 20 be used as a venue to facilitate the community art
project.
No decision was reached regarding activities in the "Big Tent" on
Friday of Homecoming weekend.
Mark Mallett suggested the possibility of having additional
meetings for the group to have additional discussions, and
possibly use those meetings for guest speakers.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
