CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEtd
MINUTES-SEPTEMBER 20, 1959
I. ROLL CALL:
Chairwoman Case called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present: M. Case, T. Gallagher, Y. Sohn, and B. Zergott
Also Present: B. Oring, Clerk of Commissions
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
B. Zergott moved to accept the minutes of July 19, 1989 as presented,
seconded by M. Case, and unanimously approved.
III. SIGNS:
No items.
IV. OLD.BUSINESS:
No items.
V. NEW BUSTNESS:
1) Paradise Honda Automobile Agency, 25892 Lorain Road
Revision to originally approved plans. (Approved by Planning Commission
April 25, 1989). Referred by Planning Commission September 12, 1989.
Mr. Schill, architect, and Mr. Paradise, owner, explained that they are
moving the building 8 feet forward and will have a 67 foot front set back
from the property line on Lorain Road in order to have more visibility.
Because the second floor has been removed, the building will be 2 feet
wider and 35 feet deepex. The color of the split face block has been
changed from light buff to a desert buff and there will be a light buff
stripe on the west elevation only. The dryvit sign band and canopy on
the side will probably match the desert buff walls. The mullions in the
clear windows will be bronze anodized aluminium. Mr. Sohn ha's a concern
because the accent color is only on one side of the building and is not
repeated on any other elevation. The other members agree and are also
concerned because there does not appear to be a great deal of contrast
between the two colors. Mr. Schill explained that the west wall is 63
feet long and the stripe would break it upe Mr. Paradise futher advised
that he has seen a building like this in Akron which is quite good looking.
He also believed that since this-color picks up the color of the mortar
of the existing building they will be compatible, but will not look alike.
Mr. Sohn still believed that the accent color should either be repeated
or else be eliminated so that the building is all the same colors. It
was suggested that the dryvit could be lighter to match the accent
color. Mr. Schill further explained that the mechanical units will be
screened with a dryvit to match the canopy. M. Case moved to accept the
proposal as presented with the strong recommendation that the building
be either one solid color throughout or that the dryvit material on the
south side of the building match the accent color on the west side,
seconded by B. Zergott, and unanimously.approved.
