REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
B. Gorris moved to approve the minutes of April 10, 1990.as submitted, seconded
by J. Thomas, and unanimously approved.
III. BUILDINGI)EPARTMENT REQUEgES;`
1) Nemeth Commercial Building, 29310 to 29352 Lorain Road
Revised plans to construct addition to parking area. (Tabled at
meeting of March 27, 1990).
Proposal has been withdrawn by the developer for this meeting.
The proposal has been rescheduled for May 8, 1990,
2) Memory Lane, 29645 Lorain Road
Proposal to convert attached garage to retail store.
Heard by Architectural Board of Review on April 18, 1990.
Mrs. Chelednick advised that she did have a landscape plan for the area
around the sign, that her husband would be making the sign, but they would
be buying the letters as recommended by the Architectural Board. Building
Commissioner Conway stated that the ground sign was well below the inaximum
size allowed, but he would have to figure the to'cal amount of.signage al-
lowed after he knew the size of the wall sign. Mr. Bierman is concerned
because the only definite landscaping shown is that around the sign, and
he would like to know what kind of trees are to be planted to shield the
parking from the.street. After Mxs..,Chelednik responded that:maple trees
would be planted, Mr. Bierman pointed ou-t•that these trees might create a --
problem beside the parking area, and that they would not block the view of _
the parking area from the road. He suggested that the put in some bushes.
The Architectural Board had merely noted that they would be putting in some
foundation plantings in the future. It was decided that she could work
with the city forester on the type of trees and bushes would be best, and
these plans could be forwarded on to the BZD Committee of Council. Build-
ing Commissioner Conway clarified for Mr. r4organ that there was a detached '
garage on the property with a driveway off the side street which will
satisfy the code requiring..a garage for a dwelling, and further.that the
2 parking spaces shown conform to code. J. Thomas moved to approve the
proposal to convert an attached garage to a retail store, known as Memory
? Lane at 29645 Lorain Road, incorporating the suggestions for the sign that
were made by the Architectural Board of Review on April_18th. We are also
requiring the developer to provide'to.the B.ZD Committee of Council a specific
landscape plan which would show the placement of landscape items which
ft?t,
