i k ' . CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD MINUTES - MAY 20, 1992 I.. ROLL CALL: Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Present: T. Gallagher and B. Zergott Absent: Y. Sohn. Also Present: Chief Building Inspector_Sanker, City Forester Wendell, and Clerk of Commissions Oring. II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES The minutes of April 22, 1992 were deferred. III. SIGNS: 1) Pic Way Shoes, 27650 Lorain Road. Existing wall sign. J. Helmann, Pic Way Shoes, presented a color rendering and advised that the sign company presented a rendering of the sign showing the background as brown rather than yellow. This change was done to co-ordinate a11 the signs on the site with the interior decor which is now white, yellow, and orange. In answer to Mr. Zergott's question, Mr. Helmann ad.vised that the cabi.net and pole of the pole sign was yellow and had been approved with yellow. Mr. Zergott stated tha.t he would prefer that the signs match. T. Gallagher moved to recommend that the pole sign match the pylon sign and be accepted as presented,. seconded by B. Zergott, and tmanimously approved. IV. OLD BUSINESS: No items. V. NEW BUSINESS: 1) Habitat, 4687 Great Northern Boulevard. Proposal for exterior renovation to a unit in an existing shopping center. Heard by Board of Zoning Appeals an April 1, 1992. Referred by Planning Commission on May 12, 1992. Representative not present, will be heard later. 2) Church of St. Clarence, 30106 Lorain road Proposal to construct picnic pavilion on church property. Referred by Planning Commission on May 4, 1992. Mr. Zarzycki, architect, presented a colored site plan and explained that this was to be an open pavilion at the rear of the site adjacent 'to the Metro Parks. The character of the building is reflective of the church in that they are using the same forms, shapes, and materials. The pavilion will be slightly below grade and the landscaping will be terraced down to it. He explained that this will be behind the house which the church has recently acquirede The materials will be identical to those on the church, Belden Beaver Brick and Timberline Burnt Sienna shingles on the roof. There will be some interior lighting and a fire place on the east wall, there might be some decorative exterior post lights, but similar to what is around the church, but no additional high pressure lighting is planneda The land has been graded for the proposed retention system. 1
