CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTITRAL REVIEW BOaRn <br />MINUTES-SEPTIINBER 16, 1992 <br />CONFERENCE ROOM--5:30 P.M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Zergott ca,lled the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. <br />Present: S. Ferencik, T. Gallagher, and B. Zergott. <br />Absent: Y. Sohn. - <br />Also Present: Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEiT ANID CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />B. Zergott moved to accept the minutes of August 6, 1992, seconded by T. <br />Gallagher, and unanimously approved. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />1) Radisson Inn, 25070 Couritry Club Boulevard. <br />Proposal to change faces of existing signs. <br />Mr. Knific, sign contractor, presented pictures of the existing signs, two wall <br />signs, one on both the south and east elevations, and two ground signs, one at <br />the entrance and ane on I-480. It was explained that this snall club court type <br />hotel was to be franchised under the name Pierre Ra.disson Inn, however, only 3 <br />such inns have been built and the Radisson Corporation now does not want to <br />continue with the franchise, and so the: signs will be changed to conform with <br />the other Radisson Inns. The eolors will conform with a burgundy background with <br />cream letters, and the wa11 signs wi11 have burgundy letters in a cream cabinet. <br />These sign will be slightly smaller than what is on the building now. The <br />Building Department had advised Mr. Zergott that all non-conforming signs r,rust <br />be removed by January l, 1998, and that these signs are oversize. Mr. Gallagher <br />clarified tha.t the code has been changed and they would be allowed,to keep their <br />signs until 1998. Variances had been granted for these signs originally, but <br />even though theses are smaller,- they wili still be oversized. Mr. Gallagher <br />suggested that they consult with the Building Department to see if they might be <br />better to change to conforming signs at this time. Mr. Knific will look into <br />this. The members had no problem with the concept. B. Zergott moved to accept <br />the concept of these signs as presented for the Radisson Inn, seconded by T. <br />Gallagher, and tmanimously approved. <br />2) Carlton Park Apartments/I3yde Park Condominitnns/Coliunbia Square Apartments. <br />Proposal to change color of ground signs at Lorain Road and Columbia Road <br />entrances. <br />Mr. Schwartz, sign contractor.,. stated that;their present ground signs are not <br />easily visible, and the intent of changing the signs to-inake them more visible. <br />They will be replacing the sign panel and will be painting;.,the brick pillars <br />green and the sandstone cap will be painted gold. They beli.eve that these colors <br />will stand out more. The letters of the sign will either be metallic gold <br />letters with a white outline or white letters with a metallic gold outline. The <br />sign is not illuminated, but there might be spotlights directed at it. Mr. <br />Gallagher did not believe this would be show up much better. Mr. Sehwartz <br />presented a picture of the sign as it looks now, and an incandescent spot light <br />was shown. Mr. Zergott pointed out that painted brick can present maintenance
