Cameron-Alston,
and R Tallon.
Absent: R Koeth.
Also Present: Assistant Law Director Dubelko, Build.ing Commissioner Conway, and Assistant Clerk
of Commissions Cornish.
U. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
R Tallon motioned to approve the minutes of Apri18, 1997, seconded by T. Brennan and unanimously
approved. Motion carried.
III. BUII.DING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS:
1) Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 27114 Lorain Rd. (formerly Jack's Auto Bodv)
Proposal to renovate former auto body shop for car rental facility.
Heard by board of zoning appeals Apri12, 1997.
Heard by architectural review board April 16, 1997. 2)
Presenting the proposal were Mr. Lasalla, Mr. Stratton, and Mr. Scherf. Mr. Lasalla, the area manager
explained the following changes have been made since the last meeting: the phone number has been
removed from all signage; the tenth parking spot has been eliminated because it was too close to the
street; and the HVAC unit will be alumiuu.m gray color rather than the green. Mr. Brennan wondered
if a lighting plan has been submitted. Mr. Lasalla pointed out the location of the light poles on the
plans. Mr. Brennan questioned what type of lighting would be used? Mr. Lasalla was not sure but was
willing to use whatever is recommended. Mr. Brennan noted there is an existing light pole in the front
which he believed was a CEI pole sodium fixture. Bu.ilding Commissioner Conway advised the lighting
description calls for a 300 watt for fixture A and B which are metal halide wall pack fixtures with
bronze finish. Mr. Brennan believed this lighting was a little intense and suggested going with a 150
watt sodium wall pack as there are abutting bu.ildings. Mr. Conway noted that there are no residents
abutting this property. Mr. Tallon wondered where these fixtures would be located. Mr. Lasalla
clarified there wottld be fixtures in the front and rear as noted on the plans. Mr. Tallon had concerns
about the lighting in the front. Mr. Conway stated no lighting fixtures were indicated on the previous
proposaL Mr. Lasalla noted the existing fixtures would be removed and replaced and agreed to reduce
the wattage to 150 as requested. Mr. Herbster wondered if there would be a trash receptacle. Mr.
Walser explained there would be five 20 gallon trash cans, instead of a dumpster. Mr. Tallon
questioned if an area has been designated to store the cars. Mr. Lasalla advised there are six parking
spaces in the rear that can be used for this purpose. Mr. Tallon opened discussion up for the audience.
Mr. Ulewicz, owner of an abutting property, was concerned about drainage and the material used for
parlang lot. Mr. Lasalla advised there will be a black top parking lot with a 6" curb and plans have
been submitted to the citys engineering department for approval of the. proposed drainage. Mr.
Conway noted the plan shows three catch basins. Mr. Tallon advised by ordinance, drainage must be
provided.
R. Tallon motioned to approve the request of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 27114 Lorain Rd.(formerly
7ack's Auto Body). A proposal to renovate.former auto body shop for car rental facility. The proposal
will include the lighting proposal submitted but the wall packs shall be reduced to 150 watt. All
