MINUTES OF LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />MEETING OF FEBRUARY 21, 1985 <br />Present: 'Chairman Betty Lord, Sharon Fleming, Robert Parry, Gloria <br />Sell, Julia Brown <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Betty Lord at 8:10 p.m. <br />Sharon Fleminq was introduced as the new member to the Landmarks Commission. <br />Chairman Betty Lord reported on the breakdown on the 1984 expenditures. It <br />appears the purchase of the typewriter will be charged against the 1985 <br />budget. <br />Correspondence: Resumes have been received from the following: Dr. Richard <br />Klein, Carol Poh Miller (consultants), Hamesh Vakamudi. Ron Timblin, Richard <br />Pailes and Leslie Trew. <br />RESEARCH INTERN: Interviews with Richard Pailes and Leslie Trew will be <br />attempted for Sunday, February 24 or I•4onday, February 25 at Town Hall. <br />GRANT: Since the last commission meeting all members have been supplied <br />T-7'7hs -(a.) Necessary forms and instructions to complete a preliminary <br />I ual survey of pre-1920 buildings in North Olmsted; (b.) Each member <br />has been assigned an area outlined on a map that they are to cover. <br />Progress report is being prepared by Robert Parry to be submitted to <br />Ohio Historic Preservation Office within the next two weeks. All members <br />have been supplied with a copy of the workplan to keep abreast of the <br />requirements. <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT: Sharon Fleming has agreed to assist <br />Lois Van Auken in the preparation of,the application for funds. Additional <br />information will be forthcoming from Don Copeland. <br />HISTORIC DISTRICTING: Gloria Sell provided copies of criteria for Historic <br />Districts w ich she had obtained from various sources. This matter will be <br />studieC and discussed at the March meeting <br />OLD BUSINESS: Again the matter of prospective commission members was <br />discussed. Betty Lord has contacted John Cimperman again, but he has <br />recently assumed another position and would not have the time. However, <br />he may find time to attend our meetings on occasion. He will be mailed a <br />notice of our April meeting. Mike Patton is to be contacted by Betty Lord <br />and Gloria Sell is to check with Mr. Haas. All agreed we should not have <br />additional members from the Butternut area. <br />H.B.R.P.: Plaques and date strips ordered from Champion Ornamental <br />('-*.ings are here. It was suggested and agreed upon that we hold these <br />i .1 the first of May (National Historic Preservation Month)at which <br />time they will be presented to the eleven Butternut Ridge Road homeowners. <br />Jith this large number to receive plaques, commission members felt it was <br />appropriate to have a small ceremony in the Council Chambers, with a slide <br />presentation and light refreshments following. An attempt will be made <br />for good press coverage on this event.
