MINUTES OF LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />MEETING OF JUNE 21, 1984 <br />Present: Chairman Marlene Orzechowski, Betty Lord, Lois Van Auken, Gloria <br />Sell, Julia Brown and Robert Parry <br />Meeting was called.to order by Chairman Marlene Orzechowski at 8:15 p.m. <br />First on the agenda was a hearty welcome to Robert Parry, newly appointed <br />as a member of the Landmarks Commission. <br />Minutes of the May 17, 1984, meeting were approved as submitted. <br />Correspondence: National Trust invitation to meeting Sept. 15 on store fronts, <br />Council minutes, Preservation News. <br />Old Business: <br />1. The matter of a secretary was again discussed. Marlene Orzechowski <br />was given the name of a lady who may be interested to serve in tMis capacity. <br />Marlene will approach this person after taking it up with city administration. <br />2. Certified Local Government Grants-In-Aid Program discussed at length. <br />It was the consensus that we should participate in this program in an attempt <br />to complete a comprehensive survey of historical properties in North Olmsted. <br />Completed application must be submitted by July 13, 1984. <br />Robert Parry told of Regional Planning's success with the use of a co- <br />op student from the University of Cincinnati. This is something we may look <br />into should we be successful in securing a grant. Necessary legislation, <br />letters of support and other documents necessary will be assemb-led as soon <br />as possible to meet the deadline. <br />3. CDBG: Don Copeland advised Marlene Orzechowski that we stand a 50/50 <br />zance for Phase II of Town Hall rehab. <br />4. Historic District: In response to Regional Planning's letter of March 1, <br />Betty Lord had submitted additonal properties to be listed on their list of <br />historic sites in North Olmsted. The Butternut Ridge area between Lorain/ <br />Butternut to.the newer homes just west of Columbia Rd. has been forwarded <br />to Columbus for consideration as a Historic.DiEtriRt by Regional Planning. <br />Several other potential historic districts/?ereuXasoggu?2itted for con- <br />sideration at this time. <br />5. Flagner House: An attached breezeway and garage is being planned. <br />6. Photographer: Julie Brown has been unsuccessful, in securing prints <br />from Mr. Dietrich. Will continue pursuit of same. <br />7. CLEVELAND MAGAZINE: Marlene Orzechowski submitted addresses of some <br />historic North Olmsted homes to their photographer for possible inclusion <br />in the upcoming publication featuring North Olmsted. <br />8. Homecoming: Perhaps Landmarks could share space with the Department <br />of Human Resources. Lois Van Auken suggested we pursue the matter of an old <br />car to run in the parade. <br />New Business: <br />1. Archives: Area must be cleaned up and necessary chairs and files <br />obtainecT.ar ous members have need to get material from their homes into <br />a storage area. Betty Lord moved that we purchase a 4-drawer legal size <br />metal file cabinet with lock, and necessary pendaflex folders, etc. to equip <br />same. Motion was seconded by Julie Brown and unanimously approved. <br />2. Granville Workshop; Marlene Orzechowski reported she and Yvonne <br />etrigac attended. Motion was made by Lois Van Auken, seconded by Betty <br />Drd that Marlene be reimbursed for expenses incurred, and unanimously-approved. <br />3. Charter: It is the consensus that the Landmarks Commission should be <br />considered as a chartered commission when review takes place in 1985e <br />over....
