MINUTES OF LANDMARKS COMMISSION 00 MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 15, 1983 Present: Chairman Betty Lord, NIarlene Orzechowski, Dwayne Woerpel, Dale Wunderle, Lois Van Auken, Patrick Patton, Gloria Sell, Robert Hunter, Julia Brown Also present: Service Director Joseph Corrigan arrived at 8:45 p.m. Meeting was called to order by Chairman Betty Lord at 8:05 p.m. First item discussed was the matter of the Butternut Cemetery site marker. In reference to.minutes of the June 20, 1983 meeting, motion was made by Dwayne Woerpel that they be corrected as follows: Under Site Marker, second line "site marker to be replaced." Motion seconded by Lois Van Auken a.nd unanimously approved. Following this, various needs of the Landmarks Commission were discussed. Dwayne Woerpel moved that we authorize the purchase of a four-drawer, legal size, fire resistant file cabinet and the necessary accessories, such as hanging file folders, etc. for the storage of Landmark documents, and to pursue the possibility of a used file cabinet from the city offices; motion was seconded by Dale Wunderle and unanimously approved. It was also sugges•ted we check ?ith the administration for surplus furniture and equip- ment upon their move into the new complex. At this point in the meeting Service Director Corrigan arrived and the subject of the Butternut Cemetery site marker was thoroughly discussed. Mr. Corrigan informed the commission that he was considering Mr. Al Sepic of the Service Department to repair the damaged sign, but it was the con- sensus of the commission that a claim should be placed with the insuranee company rather than the repair suggested. Mr. Corrigan was given the telephone number and address of the firm that made the marker - Sewah Studio, Marietta, Ohio, 614-373-2087. He advised he will pursue the claim a s re que s t e d. (?2l??• j,?i?s-?1 / n2inutes: Lois Van Auken moved that the minutes of the July 21, 1983, meeting be approved as submitted, seconded by Dwayne Woerpel and passed; Correspondence: National Trust renewal notice, Property Research, Council minutes, Gaede agreement. H.B.R.P. - Two applications have been received, more research needed on b'oth: -Gotlibowski, 2887 Clague Rd. and Braskieh, 3841 Columbia Rd. Town Hall: Betty Lord advised Dale Serne, architect working with Mr. Gaede, delivered plans for the Town Hall ramp to her home this evening. These were presented to the members for inspection. An attempt will be made to meet with Mr. Serne for a complete inspection of Town Hall, including the base= ment area. Dates being considered are Monday, September 19th at 8:30 p.m. or Monday, September 26th at 8:30 p.m. All commission members are requested to be present if at all possible. As Town Hall was being discussed Mr. Corrigan informed the members there was a new boiler in storage that may be considered. Old Business: Betty Lord reported the plaque on the Carpenter house (Kitson) has deteriorated badly already. Maybe some time in the future we should consicier Smith-Cornell of Auburn, In diana, for plaqueb National Register plaque was ordered through them. To our knowledge this is the only plaque that has deteriorated. This will be checked out.
