MINUTES OF LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />00 MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 15, 1983 <br />Present: Chairman Betty Lord, NIarlene Orzechowski, Dwayne Woerpel, Dale <br />Wunderle, Lois Van Auken, Patrick Patton, Gloria Sell, Robert <br />Hunter, Julia Brown <br />Also present: Service Director Joseph Corrigan arrived at 8:45 p.m. <br />Meeting was called to order by Chairman Betty Lord at 8:05 p.m. First <br />item discussed was the matter of the Butternut Cemetery site marker. In <br />reference to.minutes of the June 20, 1983 meeting, motion was made by <br />Dwayne Woerpel that they be corrected as follows: Under Site Marker, second <br />line "site marker to be replaced." Motion seconded by Lois Van Auken a.nd <br />unanimously approved. <br />Following this, various needs of the Landmarks Commission were discussed. <br />Dwayne Woerpel moved that we authorize the purchase of a four-drawer, legal <br />size, fire resistant file cabinet and the necessary accessories, such as <br />hanging file folders, etc. for the storage of Landmark documents, and to <br />pursue the possibility of a used file cabinet from the city offices; <br />motion was seconded by Dale Wunderle and unanimously approved. It was also <br />sugges•ted we check ?ith the administration for surplus furniture and equip- <br />ment upon their move into the new complex. <br />At this point in the meeting Service Director Corrigan arrived and the <br />subject of the Butternut Cemetery site marker was thoroughly discussed. <br />Mr. Corrigan informed the commission that he was considering Mr. Al Sepic <br />of the Service Department to repair the damaged sign, but it was the con- <br />sensus of the commission that a claim should be placed with the insuranee <br />company rather than the repair suggested. Mr. Corrigan was given the <br />telephone number and address of the firm that made the marker - Sewah <br />Studio, Marietta, Ohio, 614-373-2087. He advised he will pursue the claim <br />a s re que s t e d. (?2l??• j,?i?s-?1 <br />/ <br />n2inutes: Lois Van Auken moved that the minutes of the July 21, 1983, meeting <br />be approved as submitted, seconded by Dwayne Woerpel and passed; <br />Correspondence: National Trust renewal notice, Property Research, Council <br />minutes, Gaede agreement. <br />H.B.R.P. - Two applications have been received, more research needed on b'oth: <br />-Gotlibowski, 2887 Clague Rd. and Braskieh, 3841 Columbia Rd. <br />Town Hall: Betty Lord advised Dale Serne, architect working with Mr. Gaede, <br />delivered plans for the Town Hall ramp to her home this evening. These were <br />presented to the members for inspection. An attempt will be made to meet <br />with Mr. Serne for a complete inspection of Town Hall, including the base= <br />ment area. Dates being considered are Monday, September 19th at 8:30 p.m. <br />or Monday, September 26th at 8:30 p.m. All commission members are requested <br />to be present if at all possible. As Town Hall was being discussed Mr. <br />Corrigan informed the members there was a new boiler in storage that may <br />be considered. <br />Old Business: Betty Lord reported the plaque on the Carpenter house (Kitson) <br />has deteriorated badly already. Maybe some time in the future we should <br />consicier Smith-Cornell of Auburn, In diana, for plaqueb National Register <br />plaque was ordered through them. To our knowledge this is the only plaque <br />that has deteriorated. This will be checked out. <br />
