MINUTES OF A SPECIAL NIELTING OF T}iE PLANNING COMITISSION AND THE COUNCIL <br />, OF `1'HE CITY OF NORTH OI14STED, OHIO HELD AT 8e00 P. M. <br />JULY 99 1954s . <br />Planning Commission members present were Nlessrs. Votava, Lewis, Bittel, Esgar. <br />Mr, Euller was absento <br />City Council members present were Messrs. Baker' Decker' Crider, Knapp, Kramer, <br />Neubauer, Schb,renk9 Council President Baumgardner9 Building Commissioner Crider, <br />City Clerk Christma.n., Engi.neer Deane <br />The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed rezoning of the Brook- <br />park Road extension for multiple residence frora Columbia. Road ea,st to the <br />ci-ty linem Members of the Planni.ng Commission presented their reasons for <br />suggesting that the area be xezonedo In genera].9 the members of the City <br />Council appeared to be in agreement with the plan, although some members <br />krere concerned with the reactions of the residents near the proposed area. <br />Niost members, however9 felt that the objections were from a sma11 minority. <br />Concerning the nwnber of school children Prom multiple residences, School <br />Superintendent Lower stated that surveys have shown there are 1.2 schooJ chilm .f? <br />drer! per dwelling unit in apartments as opposed to 2.8 school children for <br />single residences. . <br />Mr. Steven Calmer stated that the School Board was very much in favor of both <br />multiple residence and industrial areas9 to ease the tax burden and help <br />support the school sgstem. <br />Mr. Ray Helt sta-ted that the Kiwanis group was in agreement with the state- <br />ments of Mre Calmer and he wished to go on record as saying that Kiwanis <br />would assist in any way possible to help bring light industry into TJorth <br />Olanst ed, ' <br />The meeting adjourned at 9m35 P.
