PCNUTES OF A I+IEETING OF THE PLANNING COMISSION
OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, HELD AT 8t00 P.M.
_ JUNE 11, 1957
- Present were Messrs. Votava, Hannan., Grumney, Lewis and Esgaro
Ivlr.- Esgar suggested the following program for the study of the Planning Com-
missions
1. The city should plan on the possible extension of Brookpark Road in the
future. In ox°der to do this an ordinance should be passed setting the
building set back line as 150 feet along the expected extension.
2. There should be more planning concerning playground facilities in North
Olmstede
a. Ten acres minimum should be set aside for each 1000 families
that may move inti? North Olmsted. This land should be c-quired
before the families move in.
be Small areas shou].d be set aside for small children so that they
have to walk no more than ? mile and do not have to cross main
roads,
c. Larger areas with ball fields etc.9 should be set aside for
larger children.
d. Shoul.d investigate the legality of charging a fixed fee for
every lot platted in North Olmsted. Said fee to be used for
community development -- primarily playground areas.
e. Should integrate pl.ayground areas with school playgrounds.
3. Should get together with school board concerning possibi],ity of future
school sites and make steps for setting aside land for such usee
4. Should r°e-evaluate the city building code to be sure that it is adequate
to coger an indnstrial area.
5e Should give additional eonsideration to annexation of portions of Olmsted
and Ridgexille Townships.
6. Should give consideration to increase minimum lot sizes in North Olmsted.
By requiring lots with 75 to 100 feet of frontage tends to result in the
building of higher priced homes which helps the tax duplicate without ap-
preciably increasing municipal costs.
7. Should anticipate the possibility of widening the following streets in the
futures Stearns, Mackenzie, Butternut Ridge, Dover, Porter,,Clague, Columbia
and Barton Roads&require a building set back of 100 f.eet on these roadsa
8. Should investigate the advantages and disadvantages of a Charter Form of
government for North Olmsted and if it looks promising, submit it to the
VOt,EiT'S,
9. Use sewers in the future to control the city gx°owth rate, to be sure it is
in an orderly and well pla.nned manner. Extend trunk sewers gradually into
undeveloped areas.
