Old Business <br />(a) Regional Planninp, Commission Report - Carl Bohm introduced Larrp <br />Sabin who gav'e a .reporic on the Comprehensive Business Study including <br />f.tture gotential and dema.n.d within North OZmsted and the surrounding <br />communities incl.uding Fairview Pa.rk, Day Village' Rocky River? <br />Westlake o Using the amount of bLtS1.I1P.SS floor space as the indicator <br />of demand and breaking down businesses into the following classi- <br />fications: Coravenience goo,,s ana services, shopping.goods and <br />services, auto sales and services, commercial amusement and <br />officess it was determi.ned that North Olmsted presently has a total <br />of° 1,l,.089000 rqua,re f°eef, of business floor space which is approximately <br />113 of the total business floor space area in the five communities <br />under studyQ In order to answer th.e question of what we can expect <br />in the future and whq, we must . determine the trade areaso 'ckie logical <br />area that an.y business could expe?t tO draw trade froms how mtach money <br />people in f.hese aseas have to spend on certain goods or serviees and <br />the trade areas they w3.11 be drawn to. The five community area FraB <br />divided roughly into twelve ahopping districts, three of which <br />are Iocated in Idarth Olmsted.. Great Narthern Area9 Clague R.oad and <br />Lorain Area, Stearns I?oad a.ud S,orain Area. About 1/2 0f a1I businesses <br />in Nox°th Olmsted rsaw are :isz the Gxeat Northesn Area. At present' <br />783,000 square feet of busirbess space are in tlais area. It is , <br />anticipated that by 19859 this same Gr@nt Northern Area will have <br />1,250,000 square f'eet of busine,s spacea 180,000 square feet of <br />growth is expected in the Stearns Area and 1f0a000 square feet in <br />the Clague Areae About 1/2 0f aIl expa.nsion probablgr w3ll be in <br />the Stearns Road - Los°ain Area. Accord3.ng to atud3es, the North <br />Olmsted area can sapport appx°ax3.mately 45 ariditioua.7_ acres of <br />convenienee and shopping good.s biasinesses not ancluding automobile <br />salea wh.ich woulcl account for 10-15 acres adciit,i[.onal area.
