CITY OF NORTH OLM,STED m BQARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />Regular Meeting held at City Ha11 - January 5' 1972 <br />L'he meeting was called to order at 7:40 P.M. by Chairman William Tubbs. <br />Those Present: Mr. Tubbs, Mro Roberts, Mrs. Eian, Mr. Scheef <br />AZso Present: Mr. Gundy, Building Commissioner <br />l. Appellant: Cleveland Trust Co., 23420 Lorain R.d., d RequeSt for variance <br />(1133.13) to replace exist3.ng s3.gns. Request is in violation of Ord, # <br />62-33, Section 1225.02. klso request variance for 2nd pole sign. <br />Presento Mr, Carl Wagner of Wagner Sign Co. <br />Mro Wagner was sworn in. He presented photographs of the proposed signs. Mr. Wagner <br />said that C1eveland Trust would like to have two pole signs to identify the bank on <br />both Lorain and Clague. Mr. Roberts a"sked how high the pole sign would be? Mr. <br />Wagner said that it 3.s about 12' off the ground. Mrs Scheef made a motion to grant <br />a variance of 4r on the sign on the corner of C].ague and I,orain and deny the issuance <br />of a variance for the second pole sign on C].ague Rd.; seconded by Mro Roberts, and <br />unanimousl.y passed. <br />2. kppellant: C1eveland Trust Co., 26091 Great nTorthern Shopping Center - <br />ftequest for variance (1133.13) to replace exist3.ng signs. Request is in <br />violation of Ord. #62-33, Section 1225.02. <br />Present: Mr. Car1 Wagner of Wagner Sign Co, <br />(r, Wagner was sworn in. °hotographs were presentedo Mr. Tgagner said that the pole <br />sign for identification would be 1.ocated at Brookpark and Lorain replacing the existing <br />sign. A discussion was he1d. Mr. Scheef made a motion that the variance for the <br />CZeveland Trust be granted as a 49 variance and that under a11 other conditions the <br />sign9 as to height, wil1 conform to City Ordinances; seconded by Mrs. Eian and unanimously <br />passed. <br />3. Appellant: Hilde Ludwig and Chester E. Gordon, Trustee - Request for hearing of <br />Appeal on rejection of application for retail store by Dm H. Ransbury, Officer <br />and Assistant City Errgineer' (1.etter dated October 5, 1971 proposed 7-11 Store <br />in violat3.on of Section 1141.04 Ord. #62033 wh3.ch requires Retail Business <br />Zoning have at least 50 feet of frontage on Zorain Road or Brookpark R.d.) as <br />required by Ordinance #62-33, Section 1133.08, <br />Present: Mrs. Ludzaig, Chester Gordon, Xro Kristoff, Mrs. Hodginsm <br />A11 witnesses were sworn in. Mre Gordon said that the property on the Northeast cornar <br />of Clague and Lorain is a single parcel of land and that they have 1eassi part of thi.s <br />land to the Sun Oi1 Co. The back part has been leased to the 7-11 Storeo Mr. Kristoff9 <br />3684 Clague Rdo, said that the traffic is so bad there now, that they have to wait two <br />or three traffic lights before they can get out of their yard. Mrso Hodgins appeared <br />on Mr. Walter Masonts behalf. Mr. Mason had written a letter stating his displeasureo <br />Mr. Kristoff asked if the owner can deal with Sun Oil or Thom McAn for another entrance, <br />and if not9 are the people supposed to suffer for this. Mr. Tubbs said that he did not <br />-think the Zoning Board should have to make a decision as to the outcome of this case.
