I <br />LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES OF JULY 9, 2012 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Mr. Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. in Council Chambers and Mr. Dubowslci <br />led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Present: Paul Schumann, David Neville, Dale Thomas, Albert Richner, Tom Dubowslci, <br />Julianne Nader, Rosemary Wallcer, Maryellen Davis <br />Absent: Don Rerlco <br />Staff: Director of Planning and Development Kimberly Wenger, Assistant Law Director <br />Bryan O'Malley, Clerlc of Commissions Donna Rote <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF 1VIINUTES <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Ms. Davis, to approve the June 11, 2012 minutes as written <br />which passed 8-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Designation of Landmarlcs <br />4302 Porter Road: <br />Mr. Schumann reviewed documentation on Italianate house styles which he submitted for the <br />designation. Ms. Wenger said the committee's findings would be compiled in a draft report. <br />30095 Lorain Road: <br />Ms. Davis said the committee would have a meeting prior to Landmarks next meeting. Ms. <br />Wallcer will join the committee. <br />Butternut Historic District Survey <br />Elizabeth Murphy of Chambers, Murphy and Burge made a presentation on the Butternut <br />Historic District Survey report which was submitted to the city and the State Historic <br />Preservation Office. One goal of the survey is to assist the City in updating and implementing <br />the Historic Preservation Plan developed in 2009. Their report includes background of the area, <br />methodology of data gathering and a summary of results. In total, 52 properties were <br />inventoried, which consisted of a combination of updated and new inventory forms. Ms. <br />Murphy described the four criteria for National Register designation and how the Butternut <br />Historic District would measure against the requirements. Based upon the information that was <br />collected and despite the local value and significance of the area, she believes that the District as <br />currently defined would not be eligible for National Register designation. She made a number of <br />recommendations for additions to the local district and areas for further research. She also said <br />individual structures could be considered for National Register designation.
