LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTI3 OLMS'I'ED <br />MINUTES OF NOVMEMBER 10, 2014 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chairman Neville called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers and led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Present: David Neville, Jim Morse, Jiin Dubelko, Gretchen Schuler, Toin Dubowslci, Duane <br />Limpert <br />Absent: Paul Schumann, Don Rerlco, <br />Staff: Planning & Development Director Kim Wenger, Clerk of Commissions Donna Rote. <br />REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Morse moved seconded by Ms. Schuler to approve the Landmarks Commission minutes of <br />October 13, 2014 as written, which passed 6-0. <br />NEW I3.USINESS <br />CMS14-2292; Gail Jones; 26730 Butternut Ridj4e Road <br />Proposal consists of a certificate of appropriateness to replace front declc. <br />Mr. Jones said the exiting porch is rotting and they would like to replace the porch with a new <br />slightly larger porch which can be utilized. Mr. Neville said the home is a ranch style and <br />perhaps the deck should be painted or stained to ensure it fits the character of the home. Mr. <br />Morse felt it wasn't unusual to have a front porch and aslced if thought had been given to using <br />spindles which inatch the originals instead of straight posts. Mr. Jones said they would prefer <br />strait rails which are more stable and easier to maintain. Mr. Morse said the topic for staining; <br />painting or leaving natural was brought up and he would prefer painting the porch to inatch the <br />trim or color of the house. He aslced if the owner would paint or treat the deck and Mr. Jones <br />said he would prefer natural treated wood. Mr. Neville said the railing and plate across the front <br />of the porch should blend into the color of the home. <br />Mr. Limpert moved, seconded by Mr. Dubowski, to grant CMS14-2292; Gail Jones of <br />26730 Butternut Ridge Road a certificate of appropriateness for deck changes as shown in <br />plans dated 10/22/14, the declc railing color is to be consistent with the color of the home or <br />a neutral color, which passed 6-0. <br />CNiS14-2322; Anthony Samarian; 25747 Butternut Ridge Road <br />Proposal consists of a certificate of appropriateness to preserve shaker shingles on the front <br />elevation and install vinyl siding on the south, east and west elevations. <br />As there was no one present to address the request the commission postponed the review.
