PLANNING & DESIGN COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINiJTES OF JANUARY 13, 2016 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Vice Chairman Nader called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. in Council Chambers and led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Present: Julie Nader, Paul Schumann, Thomas Patton, David Anderson, Don Rerko <br />Absent: Greg Malone <br />Staff: Planning & Development Director Kimberly Wenger, Assistant Law Director Bryan <br />O'Malley, City Engineer Pietro DiFranco, Administrative Assistant Nicole Rambo <br />COMIVIISSION ORGANIZATION <br />Ms. Wenger announced the resignation of Mr. Bohlmann from the Commission. <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Mr. Rerko, to appoint Mr.1Vlalone chair for 2016 which <br />passed 5-0. <br />Mr. Rerko moved, seconded by Mr. Schumann, to appoint Ms. Nader vice chair for 2016 <br />which passed 4-0, Ms. Nader abstained. <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Mr. Rerko, to appoint Mr. Schumann to the Landmarlcs <br />Commission, which passed 4-0, Mr. Schumann abstained. <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Mr. Rerko, to appoint Mr. Malone to Housing Council, <br />which passed 5-0. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Mr. Rerko, to approve the Planning & Design Commission <br />minutes of December 9, 2015, motion passed 5-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />15-4683 Dollar General; PP# 237-09-005 <br />Representative: Jeff Paulson, Hurley & Stuart <br />Ms. Wenger said the proposal consists of a new commercial building and site improvements on <br />currently vacant land. At the December 9, 2015 meeting, the Planning and Design Commission <br />requested amendments to the site plan, landscape plan, design plan and building elevations. The <br />applicant made many modifications to accommodate these requests. The proposed building is <br />constructed mainly of masonry. Two colors of natural brick will be used instead of the originally <br />proposed painted brick. Ornamental landscaping is proposed along the front parking row as well <br />as the beds adjacent to the building. Spruce trees and service berries will be planted along the
