CITY OF NORTI3 OLMSTED
CULTURAI. ACTIVITIES COMMISSIOloT
HELD AT OLD TOWN HALL
NOVEMBER 2, 2005
MINUTES
ROLL CALL:
Chairman Garland called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. .
PRESENT: Chairman R. Garland; Commissioners B. Brown, G. Yustick, B. Martindale, D. Wahl,
and F. Curry.
ALSO PRESENT:
ABSENT: Commissioner D. Frazier
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
Mrs. Brown requested her statement regarding Marybeth's background read; that she believed that
Marybeth had a background working with children as well as art and believed that she would be a
good candidate to help with a children's art tent at next summers art show.
R. Garland moved to approve the Cultural Activities Commission minutes dated October 5, 2005, as
corrected. B. Martindale seconded the motion which was unanimously approved.
III. NEW BUSINESS:
• Progress report on fall play
Mrs. Martindale advised that the play was going extremely well with the exception of Friday's, as
attendance numbers are low due to High School Football games. Tlie actors are good and things are
going well. The play runs just under two hours and there are two intermissions. She believes that
donations collected would just about cover the costs of costumes and props.
N. OLD BUSINESS:
Mrs. Brown advised that about 6 weeks ago she spoke to not only David Wahl about joining the
commission but she also spoke to Roger Coast about joining the commission and he sent a resume to
City Hall at that time. She spoke with Roger earlier in the day, and was told that he never received a
response after he submitted his resume. She wanted to request that someone from City Hall respond
to Mr. Coast at least acknowledging the city received his resume. Mr. Garland said he would like to
see the number of commissioners raised to 11 or more. The commissioner's would like to see new
members whose background is music.
Mr. Yustick reviewed that he had visited the park a lot in the past few weeks and while speaking
witlt the clerk he found out that Paul Schumann on Landmarks Commission is also a member of the
Frostville museum and if the commissioners wanted he would like to contact Mr. Schumann to
discuss the possibility of an art show at the park. The commission encouraged Mr. Yustick to pursue
talks with Frostville regarding an art show at the museum.
Mrs. Curry had worked on wording for a mission statement and gave commissioners a sample of
what she had thus far. She would continue to work on the wording and have it ready for the
December meeting if commissioners felt a December meeting was warranted.
V. COMMUNICATIONS:
VI.
