CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />OLD TOWN HALL <br />MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2007 <br />MINUTES <br />I. ROLL CALL: Mr. Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. <br />PRESENT: D. Thomas, T. Schock, M. Davis, T. Dubowski, P. Schumann, J. Herwick, <br />J. Lasko, Jr., <br />ABSENT: L. Orlowski <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mrs. Linda Saul and daughter Jessica Saul. <br />II. PLAQUE PRESENTATION: <br />Mr. Schumann awarded a plaque to the Saul family of 4277 Porter Road, designating their. <br />home a historic building in North Olmsted. Mrs. Saul explained that the front of the home <br />faces south, the side faces Porter. Mrs. Saul would like to put the plaque on the south west <br />corner of the exterior where it is still visible. Mr. Schumann discussed having other homes <br />made landmarks in North Olmsted, particularly Mrs. Saul's home. The city of Westlake <br />considers the Porter family the founders of Westlake, therefore the Porter home has <br />substantial significance. Mrs. Saul expressed her thanks. <br />III. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Mr. Lasko moved to accept the minutes with corrections for May 16, 2007 seconded by Mrs. <br />Davis which was unanimously approved. <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS: <br />V. OLD BUSINESS: <br />MARKF,R,S: <br />Mr. Thomas sent in the application for the Springvale marker a few weeks back, which is done <br />on a first come first serve basis, which may take time. Mr. Thomas also submitted a grant <br />application to Wal Mart for funds for the markers. The Doolittle marker is still being <br />addressed. A friend of Mr. Thomas' is submitting an application to NASA for a grant for a <br />marker. Mr. Schumann stated that he will ask the Historical Society to put up a booth at the <br />Home Days to represent the Living History project <br />Proclamation for Mrs. Lord <br />Mrs. Davis reviewed the proclamation given to Joe Lange as a template for Mrs. Lord's <br />proclamation. Mr. Schumann suggested speaking with the Mayor or counsel to decide how <br />exactly the proclamation should be put together. <br />Homecomin? <br />Mr. Schumann would like to see if the Commission could put up some information about the <br />North Olmsted History. Mr. Schumann had information from Community Council on events <br />for Homecoming. <br />NEW BUSINESS
