? <br />s <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MEETING MINUTES OF DECEMBER 5, 2007 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Garland called the meeting to order at 6:50 p.m. in Old Town Hall. <br />Present: Beverle Martindale, Gerald Yustick, Royden Garland, John Kepperley, Faye <br />Curry <br />Absent: Barbara Brown, David Wahl <br />Also Present: Jack Boss <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Ms. Curry, to approve the minutes from the November 7, <br />2007 meeting, which was unanimously approved, 5-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />December Holiday Event <br />Mr. Kepperley noted that the music is in place for the December 26 event. Mrs. Martindale has <br />all of the activities organized for the children that evening. Mr. Wahl has the December 27 event <br />ready as well. Mr. Kepperley would like to have the event on the maxquee. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />2008 Calendar <br />The Commission agreed to move the meetings to the North Olmsted Library. Mr. Kepperley <br />moved, seconded by Mr. Yustick, to change the Cultural Activities meeting location to the North <br />Olmsted Library, beginning in January 2008, which was unanimously approved 5-0. <br />Events for 2008 <br />Mrs. Martindale has put together the calendar dates for the 2008 productions of the Dover <br />Players. Mr. Kepperley noted that Kiwanis will be sponsoring a play titled `Ravens Cross' on <br />January 24, 2008 at the Clague Playhouse. Mr. Kepperley also confirmed the dates for the Art <br />Festival at Frostville. He has submitted a budget proposal for the Commission for 2008, which <br />has not yet been approved. Mr. Kepperley mentioned that he was interested in having banners <br />for events around the city; however it is contingent on Council's approval. Mr. Garland was <br />interested in establishing a Christmas decorating contest next year in the city. He said that it <br />would be ideal to present the contest in the early fall of 2008. <br />Ms. Curry said that she was speaking with the North Olmsted Library about something to <br />recognize Black History month. There are dance groups who could perform, or a group could <br />perform a skit. Ms. Curry also noted that the library should consider implementing a cleaning <br />program for the children's toy area.
