_ ? - ?-? .. <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MEETING MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 7, 2007 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Garland called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. in Old Town Hall. <br />Present: Beverle Martindale, Gerald Yustick, Royden Garland, John Kepperley, David <br />Wahl, Barbara Brown, Faye Curry. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mrs. Martindale moved, seconded by Mr. Wahl, to approve the minutes from the October 3, <br />2007 meeting, which was unanimously approved. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Review of the Art Show: <br />Mr. Kepperley received the rest of the surveys from the August Art Show. Overall, the artists <br />were content with the arrangements. The artists noted they desired a stronger sense of connection <br />within the group and the location. The Commission would like more exposure through the city, <br />on the marquis. The art show for next year is scheduled for August 10. Banners for <br />advertisement will be made with money from the application fees. Mr. Kepperley also would <br />like to have the Bay community band to come down to play. Other food vendors would be a <br />consideration as well. The Commission and Frostville would like the pole banners, however cost <br />is an issue. It would require the city's approval. Mr. Garland is interested in photographing <br />some other cities that have banners and signs on poles for reference. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />December Holidav Events: <br />Mrs. Martindale discussed the advertisement for the Holiday Event noting that Linda Little has <br />offered assistance. December 26 will be a puppet show, scavenger hunt, and other holiday <br />games. Mr. Kepperley will provide some chamber music. Mr. Garland said that the band will be <br />available for December 27. Refreshments will be provided both days. <br />The Commission also discussed participating in the Tree Lighting ceremony on December 3. <br />Mrs. Brown has a variety of sheet music and said she would speak with her choir at her church. <br />Mr. Garland suggested having a decoration contest for the holidays. Mr. Kepperley noted that <br />due to the time constraints, it would work best next year with more preparation. The <br />Commission could get sponsors to offer prizes for the winners.
