r <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />SPECIAL MEETING 1VIINUTES OF JULY 29, 2009 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m. at Frostville Museum. <br />Present: Gerald Yustick, Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, John Kepperley, Faye Curry, <br />Barbara Brown <br />Also Present: Paul Schumann, President of Olmsted Historical Society; Lisa Nemeth of North <br />Coast Productions <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Ms. Brown, to approve the minutes of July 1, 2009, which <br />were approved, 6-0. <br />OLD BUSIloTESS <br />2009 Juried Arts & Crafts Festival <br />Jury of Remaining Entries: Mr. Kepperley distributed a list of accepted artists to date and <br />information on additional entries: Laurie Sanders photography and jewelry, Terry Gorges wood <br />scroll saw art, William Weese gold golf ball markers, Debbie Kristopher custom jewelry - <br />declined, James Hovanec custom ironwork, Cassandra Weiss crochet clothing, Deby Cowdin <br />recycled glass, and Suzanne Kouris pottery. A discussion on the appropriate ratio of jewelry <br />displays for this size show was discussed. Debbie Christopher jewelry was declined; all other <br />entries were accepted. Lisa Nemeth distributed information on her entries: Sandy Montville T- <br />shirts, Matt and Heather King wood turning, Mary Jane Hesche fiber art/clothing, Jenn Pitts <br />acrylic painting, and Bill Wade clay and jewelry. Sandy Montville T-shirts was declined; all <br />other entries were accepted. <br />All artists will be provided a meal ticket. Non perishable food will be collected at the festival for <br />the food bank. Ms. Nemeth reported a small ad for the show will be published on August 7 in <br />the Plain Dealer Craft Corner. Mr. Kepperley purchased two weeks of ads in the Westlife. He <br />did not purchase space in the Sun News. Mrs. Curry reported the information on the festival has <br />been submitted to local art websites. The band, The Minimum Requirements, will be playing at <br />noon and some local vocalists will sing jazz tunes. Musicians from the Bowling Green Arts <br />Enterprise group will be performing in the church. This nonprofit group will place a basket for <br />donations. The music schedule was discussed in detail. <br />High School Art Exhibition Committee: Following the meeting, Mr. Kepperley requested the <br />commission members assist him with how best to mount the high school art work in the new <br />display racks. On July 30, Ryan Wolf will assist Mr. Kepperley with mounting the artwork. The <br />Commission will make its final review of the high school art work at the meeting of August 5.
