l <br />..? _ ? ., <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES FOR SEPTEMBER 7, 2011 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chairman Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. at the North Olmsted Library. <br />Present: Barbara Brown, David Wahl, Gerald Yustick, Nasreen Starner <br />Absent: Beverle Martindale, Miguel Cora, Barbara Schirhart <br />Also present: Lisa Nemeth, Northcost Promotions <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Ms. Martindale moved, seconded by 1VIr. Wahl, to approve the July 6, 2011 minutes, which <br />was approved 4-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />City Hall Art Gallery <br />The commission received Ms. Brown's application to display art at North Olmsted City Hall and <br />Mr. Yustick advised that once the motion was made the clerk would contact Ms. Brown to set a <br />time and date to have to pieces brought in for display. <br />Mr. Wahl moved, seconded by Mrs. Starner to approve Barbra Brown's application to display art <br />work at City Hall, which passed 4-0. <br />Holidny Lighting Contest <br />Mr. Yustick said the commission should start working on the Holiday Lighting contest; more <br />information should be distributed to residents to ensure they are aware of the event. The <br />commission believed the layout of the flyer should be the same as what was used for 2010 only <br />date and times would need to be changed. Ms. Starner suggested each board member pass out <br />flyers throughout their neighborhoods. Ms. Brown suggested placing an ad in the local paper to <br />make residents aware. The commission will set the deadline to submit applications for <br />December 12, 2011 and the December meeting will be moved from December 7th to Thursday, <br />December 15, 2011. The clerlc will need to arrange moving the meeting date with the library and <br />should include the application in the October packets for the commissions review. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Olmsted Festival of the Arts <br />Ms. Nemeth said the festival went well and felt if the rain wouldn't have been such a hindrance it <br />would've been even better. There was a lot of positive feedback from the artists and other <br />participants. She suggested offering those who participated in the event a discount entry fee next
