. <br />? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCES" <br />ARCffiTECTURAL REVIEW BOARD <br />MINUTES - SEPTEMBER 16, 1998 <br />CONFERENCE ROOM - 5:30 P.M. <br />1. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:40 P.M. - <br />Present: B. Zergott; M. Yager; T. Liggett; and C. Allan. <br />Also Present: Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk; Clerk of Commissions Cornish; and <br />Mayor Musial. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />B. Zergott moved to approve the minutes of June 17, 1998, seconded by M. Yager. Roll call on <br />motion: Zergott, yes; Yager, yes; Liggett, abstained; and Allan, abstained. <br />T. Liggett moved to approve the minutes of July 22, 1998, seconded by B. Zergott. Roll call on <br />motion: Liggett, yes; Zergott, yes; Yager, yes; and Allan, abstained. <br />III. SIGNS: No items. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: No items. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Auto Body Services, Inc., 28415 Lorain Road <br />A proposal to construct a new (8100 square foot) block building. <br />Variances will be required. Referred by planning commission July 28, 1998. <br />Mr. Kavulchuk, representing, AutoBody Services introduced Architect, Mr. Mahler. Mr. <br />Mahler explained the aesthetic features and presented material samples including: Shingles <br />(Grey Frost XT 25); Door/Window Framing (Dark Donotie Finnish dark bronze #3000); <br />Vinyl Siding (odyssey Allside, platinum grey). He noted they may decide to go with more of a <br />three dimensional shingle. Pictures of the surrounding buildings were presented with the <br />elevations. In lieu of planning commissions comments concerning this project, a ballard style <br />lighting was chosen as the most suitable alternative as the lighting will accent the building and <br />will not adversely effect surrounding properties. Since there was not any pole lights <br />proposed, W. Yager questioned if the applicant felt the lighting tolerance was adequate from <br />a safety perspective. W. Kavulchuck responded the idea of the .pole lights was abandoned as <br />a result of comments from the planning commission and at the request of some abutting <br />property owners. He stated the proposed lighting was adequate for this type of a business as <br />there are only five employees and the shop would close at 6:00 P.M. Several different style <br />ballard lights were presented for review, and Mr. Yager identified his preference. W. Mahler <br />noted W. Yager was referring to the RD-8 ballard light. Mr. Yager was not as much <br />concerned about the style chosen, as long as it was consistent with the building. Assistant <br />
