ROLL CALL:
The meeting was called to order at 7:40pm.
PRESENT: R. Tallon, R. Koeth, T. Hreha, W. Spalding, P. Deichmann, T. Rymarczyk, and J.
Dubelko.
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF NIlNUTES: The minutes of November 10, 1999 Master Plan
meeting were approved as written.
IIL CONIlVIITTEE REPORTS:
Discussion ensued regarding the review of Chapters 5& 6 of the Master Plan. It was agreed that
the statistical data in each chapter needed to be updated before recommendations could be made
on an intelligent basis. Mr. Dubelko recommended that the Planning Commission not update the
Master Plan this year, but request that Council appropriate dollars to have the Regional Planning
Commission do the update in the next fiscal year. It was agreed that D. Rote should contact
Regional to determine approximate cost of updating the data and doing the rewrite of Chapter 5.
Discussion as to whether the City of North Olmsted has a CD-ROM of previously recorded
statistical data.
After review of data in Chapter 6, discussion ensued as to when the update should be done. Also
questions raised regarding coordinating the review boards efforts with the "Vision 2000"
Committees work. It was agreed that the updating of both chapters 5 and chapter 6 should be
performed by hiring a professional planner or other persons to get all of the statistical data.
Thereby allowing the board the opportunity to make better decisions. The updating should be
done after the 2000 Census date is available, if possible.
P. Deichmann advised that the previous recommendations made in the Master Plan at the end of
Chapter 6 have been adopted by the City.
Considerable discussion ensued regarding the hiring of a Professional Planner by the City and
possibly establishing a separate Planrung Department. It was agreed that a Professional Planner
would be effective in implementing existing planning recommendations for rezoning parcels and
evaluating the impact of a rezoning proposal. All agreed that the City needs some type of
Professional Planner to act as a Consultant.
