NEW BUSINESS:
A) Chairman Lord indicated that the board had met at 6:00pm at Springvale to gain some
information about the re-modeling that is being planned and also to investigate the heritage
and history of that building. The tour guide was not available, so the meeting was cancelled.
The board hopes to re-schedule.
B) Chairman Lord indicated that she would like to fill the board in on what is happening with
the Kennedy House. Two weeks ago, she received a phone call from the Building Dept.
saying that there had been a request for demolition of the Kennedy home and that they had
halted it pending Landmark decision. Mrs. Lord told them that as far as she knew
Landmarks had no way to stop the demolition. Apparently, from looking at this list (see
attachment #1) the Building Department had felt that they were supposed to halt the
demolition. She went back and read the new ordinance, which defnes a landmark as a
designation that has gone through Council. Which is exactly what the previous definition of
a Landmark was. The only things that have gone through Council in North Olmsted,
through the Landmarks Commission, have been the two churches, Old Town Hall, and the
Historic District. So, she could not stop the demolition of the Kennedy House from what
the ordinances say. 5he found it quite interesting that after two years of discussions about
the Kennedy House and the importance of it to the City, that suddenly we were to the point
of knocking it down. She called back and indicated to the Building Department that there
was no way the Landmarks Commission could protect it. At that point in time, Carnegie
Mgmt. and the person that was working with them had already made a pass around the
house with the wrecking ball. Joe Lang and herself happened to go over there that night
