<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />September 20, 1999 <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting called to order: 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Attendance: Claire Hayes, Chairman <br /> Dave Gardner, Member <br /> Rich Scott, Member <br /> Tom Jenkins, Safety Director <br /> Todd Morgan, Acting Commissioner <br /> <br /> <br />Absent: Mayor Norm Musial <br /> Robert Kasler, Member <br /> Carolyn Kasler, City Council Member <br /> Tim Smith, Vice Chairman <br /> <br />Visitors: Ginna Crea, Rink Program Supervisor <br /> Donna Szalay, Pool Program Supervisor <br /> Tom Stein, Maintenance Supervisor <br /> <br />Motion of Minutes Approved: <br />Mrs. Hayes asked the members to review the minutes of the last meeting on July 12, 1999. A <br />motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to accept the minutes as mailed. <br /> <br />Visitors Opportunity to Address Commission: <br />Ginna Crea, Program Supervisor addresses the committee in reference to the Rink’s latest <br />revenue report. Starting in January of 1999, Ginna reviewed the downward trend in Revenues <br />and attributed to cold and wet conditions in the facility. Skate rental and public skating <br />admissions were a major source of revenue loss to the prior year. Spring Hockey League was <br />down ten teams and the learn to skate program had also seen a decrease. Ginna then discussed <br />the discrepancy in competitive wages for rink workers as compared to other rinks and local <br />businesses. Discussion of why in 1998, rink revenue totals were at a peak, Ginna reminded the <br />committee that 1998 was an Olympic year and Registration for Ice skating lessons were very <br />high. <br /> <br />Donna Szalay, Program Supervisor addresses the committee in reference to the Pools latest <br />revenue report. She states that the pool as well as the rink has suffered a loss in revenue this <br />past year, She stated that she had lost Westlake Swim Team which took $7,000 out of her totals. <br /> <br /> <br />
