MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE
NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
April 7, 2008

Meeting called to order: 7:01 p.m.

In Attendance: Terry Groden, Chairperson
John J. Lasko, Jr., Co-Chairperson

John Dailey, Director, Community Life Services
Mark Mahoney, Councilman

Ted DiSalvo, Commissioner
Norm Baxter, Member
Julie Nader, Member
Chris Scarl, Member

Visitors: Jennifer Rudolph
Anna Kanis
Ed Garrity, NOHC

Mr. Groden opened the meeting with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance by all after roll call was
taken.

VISITORS’ OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS COMMISSION

Welcome

Mr. Groden welcomed everyone to the Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting of April 7, 2008
and welcomed the visitors. At that time, he opened the floor to comments from any of the visitors.
The visitors reported that they had no comments at this time.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MARCH 3, 2008

Mr. Groden clarified that, in the discussion about the Skate Park, at the bottom of Page 3 of the
Minutes, he wondered if it was correct where it said, “If you skate at your own risk unsupervised, then
you’re under the umbrella of the city.” After that, it says, “If it’s supervised, you’re liable.” Wouldn’t
it be the other way around? Mr. Dailey said that the City is liable if, almost like swimming and
lifeguard, we would be liable for the person in the pool, we’d be liable for someone getting hurt in the
skate park. Without there being no supervision…Mr. Groden said that if it’s skate at your own risk,
then it’s skate at your own risk. Mr. Groden then said he thought it was incorrect to say if you’re
skating at your own risk, then you’re under the umbrella of the city. That’s not correct, right? The
consensus was that it was NOT under the umbrella of the city and was duly noted in the Minutes.
That was the only comment that Mr. Groden had about the Minutes and asked if anyone wanted to
make a Motion to approve the Minutes of March 3, 2008, with that revision. Upon Motion moved,
seconded and approved unanimously, the Minutes were approved.
